Grace Brown: The Last Dance

Grace Brown: The Last Dance

27th Jul 2024

For Grace Brown, the Olympic time-trial marks the beginning of the end for her incredible career. The quadruple time Aussie National TT Champ announced earlier this year that she’ll be hanging up her wheels at the end of the season.

It’s all in for the Paris Olympics.

2024 has already been quite the year for Brown. The TT specialist won one of the biggest one-day classics on the Women’s World Tour calendar: Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Add in two stage wins and the GC at Bretagne Ladies Tour - she’s on form. Finishing just a second from the win at the recent Giro d’Italia TT will bring a whole host of confidence.

Not discounting her achievements, for Grace many of the big days have been defined by ‘bridesmaid moments’. 4th at the Tokyo Olympics, a mere seven-seconds from the podium. 2nd in the World Championships TT in both 2022, and 2023, by margins of twelve and six seconds respectively.

Will Paris be the day?

With 40 race days in her legs already this season: including a full Aussie summer of cycling, a full classics season and a Grand Tour with the Giro, it’s been busy. Grace’s prep has been race focussed on her way to Paris.

“Pressure is a good thing, because it means there are people out there who believe what you can do. I use it as motivation. ‘I’m aiming for that gold medal, and if I fall short and land on the podium, I’m still going to be really happy.” - Grace Brown
